Fifteen-year-old-Chaya is struggling to find her voice in the chaotic world of a dystopian Britain. The Jews are suffering increasingly violent attacks, and her community is torn between the pessimists, who think it's time to leave the country, and the optimists, who are hoping that everything will turn out okay. Her family decides to remain in Britain, but is this the best choice? And how can Chaya form her own opinions when everyone around her is so full of contradictory fears and predictions? As her world turns darker, help turns up from some unexpected places, including a group of classical musicians from the Sixth Form and an ill-assorted group of elderly Jews, including 'Bigotty Bob, the One Man Mob' and Tsipi Gold, a Holocaust survivor who is full of surprises.
